I loved this stop in the canyon.  The Three Patriarchs, like most everywhere you look in Zion are are amazing to look up at.  The peaks stand around 6,800 feet high.  One of the mornings I ventured into the park before my family was up.  I think I may have been the only one on the park trolley.  As it went into the canyon I decided to get off at this stop.  I remember clearly that as it pulled away and I watched it disappear around the corner, how cool and quiet it was. It is a somewhat strange feeling to be alone in a a park like Zion where you feel incredibly small and insignificant compared to the nature all around you.   I stood there by myself looking up at what can easily be described as a “majestical” view.  I crossed the road and walked towards them.  With every step they grew larger and larger and towered over me even though I was no where near close to their base.  The Three Patriarchs were named in 1916 for the biblical figures Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. 

If you look closely in one of the photos below, you can see a waterfall in the distance at the base of two of the patriarchs.  It would have been fun to make it much closer to it but I simply did not have time.  We were fortunate to be in Zion in March when the water was still flowing from the winter snow melt but yet it was not overly cold.
