The Bixby Creek Bridge – you probably recognize it from the pictures because you have likely seen it in many commercials, television shows, and movies. I really encourage you to click on these pictures to view them full screen and take in how beautiful the bridge is as it spans the edges of two rock cliffs that fall away into the mighty Pacific Ocean. Anyone that has talked to me about the Pacific Coast Highway knows that I cannot recommend making the drive enough. I have read it is one of the most scenic drives in the entire world. I believe them! I was not prepared when I made the drive the first time all the way from San Francisco to San Clemente California for how beautiful the views are. I know I say that often for various locations on this site but this is right at the top of my list. After doing this drive and seeing the coast line of the Pacific along California and Oregon, it really makes the Atlantic ocean coast, while also beautiful and fun to visit, almost boring in comparison. I would visit the Pacific Ocean and coast 9 out of 10 times for its scenery versus the Atlantic Ocean on the East coast.
I so want to go out west with some of my groups of friends who have not made this drive yet and experience it all over again with people who have never experienced it for the first time. The first time I made the drive was back in July of 2011. What made this drive truly special is that my grandma made the trip with us and we drove her down the PCH. She absolutely LOVED it. I am very thankful I was given the opportunity to share that with her.
It took all I had to only post the handful of pictures you see here on this page because I have so many more of the Bixby Bridge and the PCH in general.
So to wrap up, if you have never even thought of it or have considered it but weren’t sure if you wanted to take the effort – make it happen. If you even remotely like the scenes along the coast I have posted, wait until you experience it in person!
