Another fantastic hike along the McKenzie river. This happened on a special day for me – Father’s Day. Had to have been one of my best Father’s Days – spending it with all three of my kids in an amazing setting.Â
We hiked the 2.6 mile loop trail connecting the 2 falls. We started at Sahalie falls which drops 100 feet. The river was running very strongly so the falls were really flowing. We walked along the McKenzie river as we headed south. The trail is very well kept and the water was blue as always. I feel every description I have given of water in Oregon I say the same thing (but it is true) – blue / turquoise and clear! I liked the Koosah falls a little more than Sahalie as it was little more picturesque. Koosah falls drop about 70 feet. I was able to scramble down the edge of the trail and get near the river at the bottom of Koosah falls. I’m glad I was able t scramble back up grabbing a hold of tree roots to pull myself out!
Thanks to the stranger who ended up in one of my pictures shown below. The individual was down below me just taking in the river. Every time I see that pic I enjoy looking at it and wondering what that person was wondering about.
