We made many Cape Cod trips to see my daughter while she lived there. We only visited Martha’s Vineyard one time on those trips. We took the ferry from Wood’s Hole out to Martha’s Vineyard. To the best of my knowledge this was the first time I can remember actually taking a ferry anywhere – doesn’t seem possible but I think it is. I think I actually enjoyed the ferry ride as much as Martha’s Vineyard itself.
Wood’s Hole, Falmouth, Massachusetts
It is not that I disliked Martha’s Vineyard at all, its just that it wasn’t all that great. We walked around the area and enjoyed seeing the homes and visiting many of the shops.
One of the highlights of the visit actually occurred on the ferry ride. Our family refers to it by saying “tourist Todd”. As we were crossing a seagull came and flew immediately to the left of the ferry at the same speed as us. I hopped up and scrambled to grab my camera to capture a picture. I guess the sight of me doing that made me the most obvious tourist there is – Michelle and Kelsey were laughing so hard at me 🙂 Well I was not able to get my camera set exactly how I should have as it was literally a couple of seconds between jumping up and going to the rail and having to take the picture. But I still liked the picture. I smile every time I see this picture as I think about the story behind it.
