Plymouth Massachusetts carries a lot of history. We stopped on our way up to Boston from the Cape. Of course we had to stop at Plymouth Rock and view it for ourselves. I read that over 1 million people a year stop to look at this monument representing where the pilgrims disembarked and stepped onto the shores of America. As I understand it there is no actual proof that this is the location where it actually occurred but I’m not sure that truly matters. I recall as I stood there for a couple of minutes just thinking what it must have been like to actually step ashore in this new land to lead a new life in a new society. In actuality I am sure the life was extremely difficult and hard in those times. I also thought about how little those individuals knew of the great vastness that lay ahead of them all the way to the coasts that would some day be named California, Oregon, Washington – and everything in between. I have been fortunate enough to see a number of the places between Plymouth and the west coast and share those places on this site, but I have so much more to see. Many of us who call America home owe a great debt to these individuals and those that came after them.
