Stop 1 on our Paris Trip was Saint-Étienne-du-Mont (built in 1624).
This was one of a number of churches we walked in. This church was not even planned but after we left our breakfast stop on our way to walk past the Pantheon it sat right there so I of course wanted to see if we could get in. I loved how you may turn down a street and see a beautiful old church cathedral and usually the door would be open and you could walk right in and look around. The churches there were stunning – I absolutely loved how beautiful they were inside (and out). Michelle and I would often comment after seeing one that we could not believe man built these impressive structures so many centuries ago without the modern building capabilities we have today. These stops were definitely some of my favorites of the trip and I loved taking pictures of them. I hope these pictures give you some sense of how beautiful they are.
My grandma was an incredible pipe organist and I can only imagine how much she would have loved seeing the organs in these churches. A factoid about this church’s organ: The case of the organ of the tribune was made beginning in 1633 by Jean Buron, and is the oldest and best-preserved original case in Paris.
