When we visited Yosemite, we stayed in the town of Coarsegold to the south. The drive to Tunnel View is 48 miles which on the roads there translates to around 1 hour and 20 minutes. The point in which you actually officially enter the Yosemite Park is much earlier than that but by the time you work your way up to Tunnel View it feels like it takes forever. The roads in particular are very windy through parts of this so you are constantly going back and forth. If you happen to get behind a slower vehicle then it makes it take all the longer. But in the end, when you drive through the Wawona Tunnel and come out through the other side and see this view, it is breathtaking. I seriously was not sure I had ever seen a landscape in person that was this beautiful. It does seem like one of those paintings with a waterfall flowing in the side of the picture in the distance. This is definitely one of those if you have not been there and even slightly think you might enjoy it, you must go. The sun was out and very bright making it difficult to get the picture I wanted but some of these still turned out alright. You can easily see El Capitan on the left, Half Dome and Bridalveil Falls on the right as you look down the tunnel.
